Certified Clinical Transplant Nurse (CCTN)
Additional Test Sites Announced
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: March 7, 2006
The Board of Governors of the American Board for Transplant Certification (ABTC) and the Board of Directors of the International Transplant Nurses Society (ITNS) today announced the establishment of two additional examination test sites for the May 20, 2006, CCTN paper/pencil exam. They are:
Los Angeles, CA – UCLA Campus
New Orleans, LA – University of New Orleans Jefferson Campus
These two new sites are in addition to the following three test sites have been identified for the CCTN Certification Examination that will be given simultaneously on Saturday, May 20, 2006. They are:
Cincinnati, OH – University of Cincinnati
Tampa, FL – University of South Florida
Minneapolis, MN – University of Minnesota
Organizations may still apply for an Alternate Test site. The Alternate Test Site application can be found on the ABTC website at www.ABTC.net. The deadline to receive the Alternate Test Site application is April 3, 2006.
The registration fee for this examination is $250 if received on or before April 3, 2006. For applications received after April 3, the fee increases to $300.
During the first two years of examination administration, we have awarded certification to 258 candidates who have successfully passed the CCTN exam. We offer our congratulations to each one of these candidates and encourage all transplant nurses to apply for and take the CCTN exam. In order to be considered eligible for the CCTN examination, a candidate must have completed a minimum of 24 months as a registered nurse, of which 12 months work experience must be directly involved in the care of solid organ transplant patients.
CCTN Certificants are required to recertify once every three years. The CCTN Recertification Application is on the website at www.ABTC.net for those individuals who are in the process of recertifying.
